Q I want to buy organic products for my baby’s bathtime. How can you tell whether a product is ‘natural’ and what does that mean?
Jill's Answer:
A ‘Research suggests that up to 60% of what goes on an adult’s skin is absorbed into the body. So as your baby’s skin is as much as five times thinner than yours, he’ll be more sensitive to shampoos, lotions and oils. It’s no surprise, then, that natural, organic products are becoming increasingly popular.
‘Unfortunately, not everything labelled “natural” is as pure as it should be. Products claiming to be natural or organic may well contain ingredients you wouldn’t choose to put on your baby’s skin, such as the low-cost cleaning ingredient sodium lauryl sulphate, parabens, perfume or synthetic preservatives.
‘To avoid questionable ingredients, look out for a Soil Association certification stamp on baby toiletries. The ingredients in these products come from crops grown without chemical pesticides or fertilisers. However, many organic baby toiletries that are not certified by the Soil Association are just as good, so always check the label.’WHY CHOOSE ORGANIC?

We are delighted with our newest Organic Green Baby Skincare Products. Organic Shampoo and Bodywash, Organic Sleep Balm, Organic Chest Rub Gel and Organic Calendula Balm.
We have been developing these for some considerable time in response to customer demand. Once again we believe that they are as natural as anything on the market and free of SLAs, SLSs, parabens, synthetic fragrances and preservatives. They are also made in the UK.
We have also registered three of our new products with the Soil Association and they display the familiar logo as part of their packaging. These are the Organic Calendula Balm, Organic Chest Rub Gel and Organic Sleep Balm.
ABOUT OUR SKIN
A baby's delicate skin is the largest bodily organ representing nearly 15% of total bodyweight. The skin is a natural barrier. Not only does it protect the internal organs and act as a highly effective screen against germs, it is responsible for controlling body temperature and preventing excessive water loss. It is important to protect, nourish and hydrate your baby's skin now and for the future.
It is estimated that the human skin absorbs 60% of everything in the atmosphere so it can be vulnerable to the numberous chemicals it is exposed to. In the last 50 years 75,000 new synthetic chemical compounds have been developed and released into our environment. Fewer then half of these have been tested for their potential toxicity to humans, and practically nothing is known about their holistic effects when they combine together.

Our handmade organic skincare range has been formulated using only natural ingredients. We have endeavoured to source as many organic ingredients as we can for these products and will only claim an ingredient is organic if we can obtain a certificate from a recognised authority.
Our range is free from petro chemicals, sodium lauryl sulphate, sodium laureth sulphate, parabens and unnecessary synthetis additives. We also do not use any perfume or colourings.
All our Organic baby range is gentle enough for newborns and is effective for the entire family. We do not test on animals.
BEESWAX
Certified organic beeswax is a rare material as bees can travel for several miles so few areas of the world can guarantee their pollen is from unpolluted flowers. The beeswax in our Green Baby products comes from small certified organic farms and is simply filtered to remove any impurities, retaining all it's valuable benefits, golden colour and lovely honey aroma. |
